In the downtown core and the Edge District, high-rise buildings mean loading-dock reservations, freight-elevator windows, and a certificate of insurance naming the building before your date is even confirmed. Miss the elevator window and you're carrying a sofa up a stairwell — we schedule around it instead.
Outside downtown, a lot of the city is walk-up apartments and older multi-family stock where stairs, tight landings, and street parking set the pace. A few things are true across the whole city, no matter which neighborhood you're in:
It's a peninsula, and water shapes every route. St. Pete is about 62 square miles of land wrapped by more water than that. The approaches to the beaches and barrier islands run over causeways that back up in season, and the bridges east to Tampa each behave differently by the hour. We build the crossing into the schedule.
The historic districts have real physical constraints. The Old Northeast has brick streets and a mature oak canopy that limits truck clearance. Kenwood is wall-to-wall Craftsman bungalows with narrow drives. Roser Park is built into a ravine with grades and curves a 26-foot truck doesn't love. We scout the approach and shuttle with a smaller vehicle when a street demands it.
Storm season changed the housing stock. When Hurricane Helene pushed a storm surge into St. Petersburg on September 26, 2024, it flooded on the order of 10,700 homes, and Milton followed weeks later. A lot of waterfront property in Shore Acres, Snell Isle, and along the bay has since been elevated or rebuilt — which means the walk from the truck to the front door is now a flight of stairs it wasn't before. That changes crew size, and we'd rather know about it when we quote than discover it on move day.
Heat is a logistics problem. From June through September, an afternoon load is hard on your furniture and our crew. We start those moves early.
